Dehradun is the capital of the Indian state of Uttarakhand, near the Himalayan foothills and will be the start of our 21 day / 2,200km motorcycle adventure through the Spit and Zanskar Valleys
Spiti Valley
Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain valley located high in the Himalayas in the north-eastern part of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.
The name "Spiti" means "The middle land", i.e. the land between Tibet and India.
Zanskar Valley
Zanskar or Zahar or Zangskar is a subdistrict or tehsil of the Kargil district, which lies in the eastern half of the Indian union territory of Ladakh.
The administrative centre is Padum. Zanskar, together with the neighbouring region of Ladakh, was briefly a part of the kingdom of Guge in Western Tibet.
Sates of India
After leaving the state of Uttarakhand, we then cross in to the northen state of Himachal Pradesh and continue North into troubled state Jammu and Kashmir, which continues to be in dispute with India, Parkistan and China.
